I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.
Revelation 1:8 (NKJV)
God is really letting us know who He is in this verse, and the Almighty power that works in Him, and in us who are joined to Him. It should leave us with a sense of awe. My brain is just not big enough to understand the majesty of God.
He is the Alpha – the first letter of the Greek alphabet, and the Omega – the last letter of the Greek alphabet, and He is all the letters in between. As I was pondering this verse, I remembered that the worlds were formed by His Word, and letters are the basis of words. Everything was formed by the Word of His power. Jesus is every letter of the alphabet, and therefore He is in everything, and everything is all about Him. He is intrinsically linked with His creation. Those of us who are born again of the Spirit, know this, and our spirit is alive to God.
One of the most troubling aspects of society for me today, is the use of the word Universe to explain things away that people don’t understand. I’ve heard people say things like, ‘the universe has a way of working things out.’ They don’t think it’s politically correct to mention the name of Jesus and yet they know that there is something bigger than them and this world! They are aware of the spiritual realm. I must admit to being offended at times when I’ve heard things like that.
I asked Father God for His advice on the matter, and He got back to me. He said, ‘I created the universe.’ God was there before there was a universe – it’s actually rather small, and God is so much bigger! He is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We don’t know all things, but I know the universe doesn’t have the power to do anything on its own, just as I haven’t.
Jesus Christ is the only person of the Trinity that we have been able to see. God put on a flesh suit and came to reconcile us to Himself. This is clearly shown in Philippians 2:5-7 which says, ‘In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather he made himself nothing, by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.’
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ has bought us relationship with Him, and He is now seated at the right hand of the Father, leaving the Holy Spirit to guide us, teach us and point us to Jesus. He was, before the universe was created, He is – seated with the Father, and He will come back.
I want to fully trust God, for my body, my soul and my spirit, now and forever.
